Population Dynamics of Methanogenic Archea in Co-Digestion Systems Operating Different Industrial Residues for Biogas Production

This study aimed to analyze the population dynamics of methanogenic archaea in co-digestion systems operated under different concentrations industrial waste such as ricotta whey and brewery sludge association with bovine manure. It was believed that these residues from food industry combined manure can contribute improve production biogas. To identify archaea, DNA extractions sequencing 16s rRNA gene were performed 38 samples influents effluents. The results indicated Methanosaeta Methanosarcina predominant cheese Methanosaeta, Methanocorpusculum, Methanobrevibacter prevailed residual sludge. three biodigesters demonstrated efficiency methane production; contrast, only showed system 20% co-substrate.
